Our Inspiration "Amma"

Mata Amritanandamayi Math led by Amma, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, adopted 100 villages across India in 2013 with the intention of developing them sustainably. When the volunteers from Math reached the villages, they noticed that some of the social, economic problems were related to the lack of access to clean menstrual products. Many children dropped out of school and were using unhygienic products during their periods.

What Gynecologist Say

In my years of experience, I have seen many young women and girls struggling with menstruation issues such as vaginal allergies, skin irritation, chafing, dryness, and rashes. These ailments can often be directly linked to the use of disposable sanitary napkins, which contain many chemicals and plastics. Recent studies have pointed out the presence of harmful chemicals like dioxins, phthalates, and volatile organic compounds in disposable sanitary napkins. The skin in that area is very sensitive and permeable, and with continuous exposure, these chemicals may be absorbed into the bloodstream, potentially causing cancer, infertility, hormonal dysfunction, endometriosis, and many other health issues.
